Ebby Port represented FASHIONCLASH at FashionPhilosophy Fashion Week Poland in Łódz
Column by Tim Prins (Studio Stad)
After quick check-in at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel Laurens and I dive into the domain of FashionPhilosophy Poland, Łódź. He gives me a quick update on compact communication, show scheduling, media badges and FASHIONCLASH ‘hashtagging'. You know ‘serious stuff’. First show? Here we go.
The music roars. Our stomachs resonate with the heavy bass. Shows are alike and up tempo. The style is hard, almost physical and so are the collections. On the front row we join the experts from Kaltblut Magazine, ModaLisboa and Dash Magazine. For four days we only exist as an audience lingering in between shows, markets, dinners and coffee breaks.
On the second day Ebby Port arrives, FASHIONCLASH’s latest promise. She is invited to show her work. Her designs differ from the masculinity of the Polish trend by being juvenile. In the morning we assist her with the fitting and immerse ourselves in the real life of the show, the reality of the stress, the hard work and not to forget: the excitement.
It is time to choose her models. They stand in line bare and clean. The beauty of youth has such potential. Suddenly fashion revealed its true form, it comes alive.
Only 15 minutes before her show and we are all backstage. Not as experts, but as Marcel, Tiago, Laurens and Tim. We want to feel the anticipation, let it get under our skin. Translators yell, dresses fly and shoes hurt. The final match of clothes is made. Ebby instructs the models: “I want ‘happy’, but not Mariah Carey. Be frisky and enjoy the clothes.”
Her collection doesn’t want to be heavy. Color is not a detail of the designs, but an element worn by the models. The garment is eccentric, but leaves space for character. Green eyes accessorize the look. Slits accentuate the wearer’s flair. Her last piece, a beautiful green dress with silkscreen print, exhibits the strong, voluptuous woman underneath. It all comes together on the catwalk. FashionPhilosophy Fashionweek Poland inhales her work.
She returns with praise, interviews and a future photoshoot. On Facebook Philippe Pourhashemi sums it up nicely: #SMILE.

This time the event took place in Double Tree by Hilton which is placed next to the well-known movie production company, which produced the Oscar move ‘Ida’. On the first day, FASHIONCLASH Festival 2014 and 2015 participants, ODIO x Jakub Pieczarkowski had presented their newest collection in the OFF Out Of Schedule Avenue and immediately were claimed to be one of the best show in 12th edition on FashionPhilosophy. At the same day the grand opening had taken place, where Dawid Tomaszewski (polish designer based in Berlin) presented his retrospective collection and received a Golden Flaming for the great input in the polish fashion industry.

Except the evening headliners of Fashion Week, our attention was caught by Piotr Drzał's architectonic menswear designs and colorful knitwear by Berenika Czarnota.
On the last day of FashionPhilosophy Fashion Week Poland we were bewitched with two shows. The powerful collection of Klaudia Markiewicz stole hearts of many guests, as well as the Maciek Sieradzky's fur and leather dominated designs.

ZWYRD at 11th Fashion Week Poland
Last year,
FASHIONCLASH had a pleasure to invite young, Polish designer, who just
debuted at the FashionPhilosophy Fashion
Week. It was first ZWYRD’s collection ever created and ever shown and at once
people fell in love in his masculine and nature-inspired designs. Question was,
if Grzegorz Marcisz, the owner of ZWYRD, will continue his success with his
second collection. And you know what? He did!
Second
collection of ZWYRD focuses on the science fiction theme – Grzegorz’s aim was
to present his own vision of the future. In case of Marcisz, the theme is not a
random words, which are supposed to fill in the catalogue or a press info – the
general destruction of the world, pessimistic image of the future is visible in
his designs. Grzegorz based his colors and hues on very dark cobalt, metallic
silver, greys, black and white. He also included semi-transparent black
materials and colorfull prints, which resembled explosion (matching with the
theme of destruction).
In case of
ZWYRD, it is extremely impressive, that such a young designer (he is actually still a student) creates coherent,
mature and interesting collections. The same goes with the shows themselves –
barely anyone uses metal/rock music to the fashion-shows. We cross our fingers
for ZWYRD and we wish, that this young Polish talent will create many goods for
European fashion.

11th edition of FashionPhilosophy Fashion Week Poland
This autumn 11th edition of Fashion Philosophy Fashion Week Poland Łódź took place on 22-26 of October. FASHIONCLASH Team had a great pleasure to attend for the fifth time and enjoy the biggest fashion party in Poland, to see the collections of Polish designers. We are pleased to see, how designers and the event are developing with every next edition. FASHIONCLASH has also experience with Polish designers - each year FASHIONCLASH Festival receives strong applications from Polish designers as well as choses the best ones to participate in next FASHIONCLASH edition.
We were pleased to see three of FASHIONCLASH designers at Fashion Week Poland: ODIO & Jakub Pieczarkowski, ZWYRD and Baiba Ladiga (for whom, we will present a separate posts on our blog).
