Marina Stanimirovic

Today we introduce you to the French, but London based, jewelry designer Marina Stanimirovic. She will present her collection at the FASHIONCLASH designer market. 

Hello, Marina! What inspires you in general?

My everyday, relationships, music, sound, spaces…

What place or city do you find inspiring?

I mostly feel inspired in vast and empty spaces.

What is it like to be a young designer in your city/country?

Hard.

What attracts you about the FASHIONCLASH platform?

I felt that it was maybe more about content, quality and originality rather than blingbling and trends.

What is the concept behind your latest collection?

For my latest pieces, I worked with two differents whites of Corian. The idea was to highlight their disparity with very discreet variations.  It is about quite discussion in between colors, shapes and volumes.

Did you always want to work in the field of fashion?

Not really, and I still don’t really consider being part of it.

Can you remember the first piece you designed?

Unfortunately yes, and you probably don’t want to see it!

Do you have a muse? If yes, who is it and why?

Marina Stanimirovic

Everyday life is my muse.

What kind of feeling do you want to transfer with your latest collection?

Incertitude, balance in between grace and gravity.

What is on your playlist when you are working?

Nina Simone, Ben Frost, Tim Hecker, Air..

What book shaped you?

I would talk more about texts, such as les Bijoux of Baudelaire or Du Coté de chez Swann, of Marcel Proust.

Who is your favourite fashion designer?

I don’t really know fashion enough to have one particular Fashion Designer but I really like Iris Van Harpen.

What is the latest thing you bought for yourself?

A belt sander.

What is your favourite fairy tale and why?

None, I have never really been into fairy tales. Or if Mary Poppins is a fairy tale, then Mary Poppins.

If your life were a song what would the title be?

Try again. And again.

What made you smile today?

My housemate panties morning dance.

What is your definition of style?

Representation, expression of someone's tastes. 

What has been the greatest experience in your ‘fashion’ career so far?

Being able to participate in events such as Milan design week, London design week or Marzee Shows.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Freelancing and collaborations with a diversity of designers and companies.
