NIXONBUI at FASHIONCLASH Festival 2016

NIXONBUI is a Copenhagen based menswear brand, founded in 2014 by 28-year-old designer Nixon Bui. His design aesthetic is a celebration of cultural fusion; merging modern classic wear in urban environments with tribal details. The designs are influenced both by the designer’s tribal heritage, and his current surroundings, a blend of the ancient tribal with the minimal Scandinavian, the old with the new. The tribal inspirations are not only reflected in the designs, but also in the values of the company; recognizing and respecting the forces of nature, advocating quality and originality.

Where are you from? Where are you based at this moment? 
Currently I reside in Copenhagen, Denmark, but I was born and raised at the northeastern tip of India. My home state is called Arunachal Pradesh, and shares borders with Bhutan, Tibet and Myanmar. The area is inhabited by around 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub tribes, yet they all live in harmony. There’s this beautiful mix of tribal diversity there. Each tribe having their distinct custom and traditions, their own languages and artistic expressions.

Yes, I love fashion and that’s the reason why I started the study of Lifestyle and Design at the Art Academy Willem de Kooning. In July I probably will be finished (If I pass my exam) and I would love to start my own agency where the focus lies on creative fashion branding.
