Distinguished Dreams

This year during the FASHIONCLASH Festival, Dance will meet Fashion in a special collaboration between FASHIONCLASH and the Dutch Dance Festival (Nederlandse Dansdagen). (OLD)Fashion(ed) Introduction

Last week, we came together at Museum aan het Vrijthof for (OLD)Fashion(ed) introduction and meeting with crafts men and women. It was an inspiring encounter with experienced artisans who are all eager to take part in this special project.

(OLD)Fashion(ed) is a collaboration with the Dutch Dance Festival and Museum aan het Vrijthof.
In this project, experienced crafts women and men share their knowledge with young fashion designers. The collection, worn by models of 65 years and older and presented with dance performances by renowned choreographers, will be on display during FASHIONCLASH Festival and the Dutch Dance Festival (October 2014). The project concludes with a special exhibition at the Museum aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht.
The exhibition displays the costumes and video's from (OLD)Fashion(ed) project, and will provide sights to the personal lives of the involved artisans.

Stof to nadenken by Sara Vrugt

Stof tot nadenken (Food for thought)
project by Sara Vrugt at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam

Artist Sara Vrugt creates large-scale embroidery installations. From November 15 Sara will work for several months in the church atelier together with local residents, passers-by, tourists, and prostitutes on an installation for the Oude Kerk. 118 church seats from the Oude Kerk will form part of the exhibition. Her ambition is not only to create art collaboratively but also to make topical issues visible and open for discussion. The red light district on the square of the Oude Kerk has been a lively topic of conversation since the initiation five years ago of the 1012 project to reduce drugs and prostitution. Through this participatory embroidery project we take stock and discuss the changing role of the Oude Kerk in the city and its significance for the individual.
