FASHIONCLASH at FEE Academy Finals


Last weekend FEE Academy Finals took place at hotel Merici in Sittard.
The jury panel, consisted of Kiki Niesten, Hadewych Minis, Chequita Nahar, Garderone +, FASHIONCLASH, had a very tough task to choose three winners out of eight talents.

Congratulations to FEE Academy winners: Jet Teunis, Mirte Engelhard & Ine de Haes.

Among the eight finalists there where several FASHIONCLASH Festival participants like Jolka Wiens, Joelle Boers, Sabine Staartjes and one of the winner Arhnem based designer Mirte Engelhard who participated at FASHIONCLASH Festival in 2012 in collaboration with Nikki Giling.

Antoine Peters at Kiki Niesten Maastricht

To celebrate arrival of his new collection at Kiki Niesten, Dutch designer Antoine Peters created a sweater with the world's longest sleeves. At this moment he took over Kiki Niesten store with an installation in the window display.
It leads to an unofficial world record, while an application to the Guinness Book of Records is still ongoing. Among the sweater with the longest sleeves you can find his new collection. Several pieces are marked with an qoute by René Magritte 'Ceci n’est pas un sweater'.

FEE Academy Expo & Participants

FEE Academy has selected eight designers who will compete against other to become one of the FEE Academy participants. 

On January 25 there (from 2 pm) is an exposition opening at FEE Concept Store in Sittard. After the exposition that will be open until February 8th a professional jury panel will select the 3 most promising  designers to enter the FEE Academy.

The jury panel team consists of Kiki Niesten, Hadewych Minis, ABK Maastricht and FASHIONCLASH.

SALON/Maastricht

This weekend, June 2, SALON/Maastricht will open and it's a prelude to 10 fabulous fashion days in Maastricht. 60 designers/artists are showing work in various locations in Maastricht. 


You can see work FASHIONCLASH Maastricht designers from previous events like Ingo Binder, Linda Maissan, Valentin Loellmann, John Franzen, Sidi el Karchi and Fabian von Spreckelsen.

Among them are also FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2012 participants such as Brian Geradts, Zohra Murad, Kaspar Hamacher, and Branko Popovic and not to forget amazing Bas Kosters who is our special guest at FASHIONCLASH Party (June 9th).

Geluk Is Een Jurk by Cécile Narinx

Last week the editor in chief of Elle Netherlands, Cécile Narinx, was in Maastricht (Selexyz Dominicanen) for the of her book 'Geluk is een Jurk' meaning 'Happiness is a dress'. She was interviewed by Kiki Niesten.
FASHIONCLASH was there. For those who do not know, Cécile Narinx is originally from Maastricht.

Out of Fashion: Maastricht Edition




Out of Fashion: Maastricht Edition 14 May – 26 June 2011

From 14 May to 26 June 2011, NAiM/Bureau Europa is presenting Out of Fashion: Maastricht Edition. The project comprises an exhibition, a film programme and a series of events about the interaction between fashion and film. We can see how fashion houses, avant-garde designers and young, as yet unknown fashion designers utilize film, video and on-line media to give their designs form and to support their distribution and sales.

Designers agnès b. and Maison Martin Margiela have compiled a film programme of their own work especially for Out of Fashion and are showing an exclusive installation. In addition, work can be seen from designers including BLESS, Todd Cole, Prada, Freudenthal/Verhagen and Anna-Nicole Ziesche.

Out of Fashion: Maastricht Edition is the result of a collaboration between the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Premsela: the Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion, Glamcult Studio and NAiM/Bureau Europa. The project is a sequel to Out of Fashion, compiled by Inge de Leeuw for the 40th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Exhibition design is by Glamcult Studio.

The opening of Out of Fashion: Maastricht Edition will take place on Saturday 14 May at 5 p.m.

Performance Painted Game
For the opening of Out of Fashion at NAiM/Bureau Europa there will be a performance by Painted, a designers' collective led by Saskia van Drimmelen and Margreet Sweerts. For this performance, Painted has collaborated with actors from the Toneelacademie Maastricht.

Film screening Pyuupiru
Matsunaga Daishi made an intimate portrait of his friend Pyuupiru, a visual artist whose body forms the core of his work. Pyuupiru underwent a drastic gender operation. At the Out of Fashion exhibition at the NAiM/Bureau Europa, Pyuupiru will show five self-portraits.

Out of Fashion workshops in collaboration with Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht
In June, as part of Out of Fashion, two workshops will take place for students at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht about the interaction between fashion and film. The workshops will be led by Romy Tielman and Niek Pullens.
