Doe je ogen dicht en denk aan Maastricht - Eén van de eerste dingen die je dan ‘ziet’ is winkelend publiek in de sfeervolle straten van onze karakteristieke stad en mensen die een drankje doen op het terras gelegen aan een gezellig plein.

Maastricht Winkelstad, we kunnen ons er alles bij voorstellen. Winkelen en mode hebben alles met elkaar te maken. Maar toch is het concept Maastricht Modestad nog niet zo duidelijk te zien.


Het antwoord: Ontwerper/Ondernemer Project
Het concept Maastricht Modestad is nog niet sterk gevestigd terwijl hier wel mogelijkheden voor zijn. Daar wilt Gemeente Maastricht in samenwerking met FASHIONCLASH wat aan doen.

Gezamenlijke ambitie: mode in Maastricht versterken gericht op een reputatie en een dynamische modesector van Maastricht als modestad. Hoe? De academie in Maastricht is een bronpunt van veel talent. Maar slechts weinigen worden succesvol ondernemer. Hierdoor komt veel talent niet tot volledige wasdom. FASHIONCLASH en de gemeente Maastricht slaan de handen ineen en bieden een gezamenlijk programma aan: Ontwerper/Ondernemer.
Dit zakelijk begeleidingsprogramma leert ontwerpers op persoonlijke wijze de basisvaardigheden van het ondernemen waarmee ze hun eigen modeonderneming kunnen ontwikkelen.
Er is nog een lange weg te gaan maar de ingrediënten en de enthousiasme zijn er.

FASHIONCLASH / Invito Shoe Design Challenge

FASHIONCLASH Shoe Design Challenge Powered by Invito is now entering its final fase, and the most exciting one.
This summer our 10 selected designers worked hard to this point.
Museum aan het Vrijthof is currently hosting an exhibition where you can see presentation of 10 different Shoe Design proposals.

From Now on until 13th of October you can take a closer look to their design and the overall process. The jury will also take into account how the participants are dealing with branding and media. Therefore it is important that they gather as much as possible likes via their social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and their Tumblr accounts.
On 2 October, jury will choose a winning design, which will be taken into production and will be sold in Invito stores. How cool is that!

We invite you to take a closer look at Museum aan het Vrijthof. The presentation is installed in the cafe area; Entrance is free of charge.

If you can't make it to the museum here you can also see what they have created and 'like' their work.

At the same time you can also visit the 'FASHIONCLASH @ Museum aan het Vrijthof' exhibition, that has been extended due to the success. Open unto 13 October 2013.

FASHIONCLASH and De Bijenkorf for Maastricht and Euregio 2018

On Friday, 6 September, the European jury will decide which Dutch city will become the European Capital of Culture in 2018. In that light, the members of the jury visited Maastricht and the Meuse-Rhine Euregio today. around 3000 people gathered at the Vrijthof in Maastricht to show support.
FASHIONCLASH teamed up with De Bijenkorf Maastricht and gave a small fashion performance  on the square. Following to that models gave a performance in window display as a opening of the mini exhibition that you can enjoy this at De Bijenkorf Maastricht.
Now let's pray and hope that we win the title Maastricht for European Cultural Capital in 2018!

4 September 2013 - Jury Day

Be there! 4 September at Vrijthof in Maastricht 
- between 10.30 and 11.30 a.m. 

On Friday, 6 September, the European jury will decide which Dutch city will become the European Capital of Culture in 2018. In that light, the members of the jury will be visiting Maastricht and the Meuse-Rhine Euregio on 4 September.

We are calling on anyone involved in the cultural field: young and old, amateurs and professionals, art admirers and producers and anyone remotely connected, to descend on the Vrijthof in Maastricht and show off their cultural activity on Wednesday morning, 4 September, a working day, between 10.30 and 11.30 a.m.

Not a ‘performance’ for the jury but a rehearsal in public. A drama society rehearsing a play next to a samba band, a poet reciting his poem near a choir, a dancer rehearsing his steps alongside museum directors engaged in a discussion, a…. For that particular morning, we are asking the cultural field to move their rehearsals to the Vrijthof in Maastricht.

A flying visit, for the jury will not take more than half an hour to stroll through the various rehearsals. The cultural field showing what it is at! And we are also calling on all citizens of Maastricht and the Meuse-Rhine Euregio to come and watch this open-air rehearsal. In other words: do not leave your supporters at home!

Curator Lidewij Edelkoort has selected the theme of Fetishism in Fashion for the fifth edition of the M°BA. FASHIONCLASH team went to Arnhem to visit this big event. We were in particular proud to see work of several FASHIONCLASH Maastricht designers.
We have made a selection of their work that is featured in Moba.

Meet the nominees for Shoe Design Challenge

After weeks of collecting submissions we have now chosen our 11 talented designers for the 'FASHIONCLASH Shoe Design Challenge Powered bu Invito.

We are very exvcited to announce our nominated designers are: Malou Fool, Marleen Huijsmans, Lotte van de Laar, Julia Skergeth, Judith van Vliet, Wendy van den Ham, Chris van den Elzen, Sarah El Mahi, Milou van den Berg, Monique Schraven and Milou Hillegers .

The nominees will now develop their shoe ideas further in the coming months. In this process they will be coached by a professional team consisting of Nienke Rutting (Brandmanager Invito),  Fer van der Pas (marketing director and E-commerce Macintosh) and Ingrid Weijer Manager Corporate Responsibility & Innovation of Macintosh).
As of September 14, the designs can be seen at the Museum aan het Vrijthof during two weeks. During the finale in October, the final three winners will be announced by the judges (FASHIONCLASH team, Bas Kosters and Jasper Den Hartog) and one or more winning designs will be taken into production.

Selection time for Shoe Design Challenge

Today was the selection time for the 'FASHIONCLASH Shoe Design Challenge powered by Invito'. We sat with Invito and Museum aan het Vrijthof team and went through all the proposals. At last 11 promising and very diverse projects are selected and will be announced this week.

FASHIONCLASH at Berlin Fashion Week

FASHIONCLASH is recovering from the 2013 edition of FASHIONCLASH Maastricht and at the same time already making plans for 2014. In the meantime we visit events to scout talents and to encourage our dear designers and partners. We went to Berlin to attend the promising Berlin Fashion Film Festival that has celebrated its second edition. Our fashion film ASPIRE that we  have created for the 2013 edition in collaboration with Strictua was in the official festival screening. Beside that it was a great event and a wonderful Award Show evening.
At the same time Berlin Fashion Week was happening and we had attended some shows such as the Satu Maaranen (Hyeres 2013 winner) show and side events like the Premium fair.
One of the FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013 participants Franziska Michael showed her new ss2014 collection and she was also winner of Premium Young Designer Award 2013 for womenswear. We also met Black Balloon and spotted talents like label IVANMAN and Byungmun Seo.
Furthermore Blaenk label gave a very beautiful presentation at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Berlin.
At last we had the Weissensee Academy Berlin graduation fashin show where we spotted loads of talent. Check out some of the highlights.
