Q&A with into into:

What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion for me has to be artistic first.

What do you aspire to be?
An artist. I'll do all my best to die famous.

How would you describe your work?
They are relicts of the art.

What is your technique?
I see the whole picture in my head from the very beginning. So, the main trick for me is just to have it all in my mind and then bring it to life.

Have you shown your collections before? If so, where?
Moscow Fashion Week (Autumn 2012);
Moscow Fashion Week (Spring 2013);
Moscow Fashion Week (Autumn 2014);
Global Shoes 2013 (international Event for shoes and accessories) in Dusseldorf.

Could you name some key materials that you use in your design?
Aluminium, wood, metal powder, magnets, plexiglas, plastics, and leather.

What is your most notable achievement up to now in relation to fashion?
I am a member in the Unoin of designers in Moscow, and have participated in several fashion weeks. Besides, I have also launched a menswear brand "Le Porn Art" in collaboration with my friend.

What made you step into the field of design?
Lust for art.

Who are your artistic influences or inspirations?
Rene Magritte (simplicity of surrealism);
Walter Van Beirendonck (The Importance of Being ridicule);
Alexander McQueen (dark-sided Art).

What makes your items different from others? What is your designing philosophy?
Just have a good time while doing things and enjoy the process as much as possible.

How do you balance between the function of the items and the appearance of them?
My pieces are not much functional. I'm aiming for visual component and art itself.

What does your collection (creative work) try to communicate? What is about?
The last collection On Mercury was based on the vision of heroin addiction. The inspiration comes from my own philosophy and perception of narcomaniacs. I need the motion of my objects to translate erased personalities, social and environmental relations of addicts.

What do you strive for in your work?
Just enjoy the moment while creating, and not take everything too close to heart.

Finding your own voice is difficult, where and how do you find your personal creativity?
Music.

Why have you decided to participate at FASHIONCLASH?
Art needs viewers and vice versa.

What is the contemporary condition of fashion in your place of residence?
It needs to be cured.

What is your ultimate goal? What do you want to achieve with your projects?
Enjoy myself while doing things. The glory that I get is not for me, but for my beloved relicts.

What are your views on gender categorization in fashion? As in differentiating between male/female collections, is this necessary?
Not at all. People are free to choose to be whatever they feel they are. Gender is not excluded from this freedom.

Do you believe the western binary gender system (male/female) will eventually disappear?
I hope so.

What was the most important thing your parents taught you, that you now bring into your work?
Be childish as long as I can.

Have you recently experienced something that totally blew your mind?
McQueen's exhibition.

Are you a people's person or a loner?
Loner.

Black shapeless stuff.

Sunglasses. No reason.

What is your most favourite brand? Why?
Walter Van Beirendonck. He's fun.

Which current idea, product or concept that you've come across recently struck you as truly mind blowing and valuable for the long term?
Vacuumed girls at Iris Van Herpen's fall-winter 2014 show.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind?
Different stages of art: objects of design, paintings, video performances, photos, and sculptures.
