Proud sponsor of FASHIONCLASH Festival since 2016

FASHIONCLASH is honoured to team up for the second time with Thiessen Wijnkoopers during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017. Just like fine wine, this friendship gets better with age as we’re not only treating our festival guests to the beautiful and rich flavours of Thiessen Wijnkoopers. This year we will also present an outstanding exhibition of the new generation of fashion talent from the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts & Design (MAFAD) throughout their beautiful centuries-old house in the heart of Maastricht.

At Thiessen Wijnkoopers they know their wines as we know fashion; splendid classics rub shoulders with exciting newcomers. Since 1717 they have led the way in importing quality wines from France and the rest of the world for almost 300 years. Their centuries-old property in the heart of the city is an impressive part of Maastricht’s cultural heritage. Thiessen is the place par excellence for an impressive collection of the best wines, ports and champagnes. Just a five minute walk from the Vrijthof, their beautiful historic premises are also a unique location for tastings, dinners and other gatherings. They even have their own (city) vineyard. Feel free to step inside to discover this hidden treasure and explore the magnificent wine cellars and historical premises based at Grote Gracht 18, and end with a taste of their fantastic wines. You can also experience their passion for wine at FASHIONCLASH Festival, as our glasses will be enriched with their love for wine.

                                                                      MAFAD FACES TOMORROW @THIESSEN

Thiessen Wijnkoopers is not only the place to be for the best wines! During FASHIONCLASH Festival Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design (MAFAD) is going to present an exciting cross section of its new curriculum program in Design, based on the areas Body, Object and Material. MAFAD is seeking for a new generation of idealistic and socially engaged students viewing society and the existing systems with a critical eye. Inspired by leading innovators, a symbiotic and sustainable image has emerged in which life is consciously expressed regarding a new identity. The areas of Body, Object and Material become more personally oriented towards society, the community. The "secret" cellars of Thiessen Wijnkoopers are open to the public to experience a broad range of fashion, products, objects, material experiences, jewellery and much more. The talented students are going to guide you through this Wine & Design labyrinth. The ultimate trip down sensory lane! Photo: Nienke Creemers
