FASHIONCLASH Festival preview performance at Catwalk Maastricht.

Today, the audience in the city of Maastricht experienced a small tasty teaser of to expect during the festival. In cooperation with SESSIBON and MAFAD the newest local talents presented their work at Mosae Forum and Entre Deux shopping areas.

The displayed red outfits are designed by 3-D year students from the Body department at MAFAD. The red represented the urge to protest and speak out. Does Fashion Make Sense? was the question posed while parading among the streets dominated by fast fashion shops.
The statement was not there to judge the people but mostly to engage a dialogue in the streets, afteral the street is the biggest display of 'fashion'.
Moreover the performance happend to give voice to the new generation of designers and the eight MAFAD students: Ashley Luypaers, Max Niereisel, María Voth Velasco, Michelle Cornelissen, Dana Lipka, Julina Bezold, Natalia Rumiantseva and  Empar Juanes Sanchis

Fashion Makes Sense, the 9th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival will take place from June 29 till July 2 in Maastricht.

FASHIONCLASH x Catwalk Maastricht

On Saturday, June 25, FASHIONCLASH took the streets with Catwalk Maastricht.
Under direction of SESSIBON, models marched through the city, wearing prototypes of MAFAD academy students. Which means that you have to come to FASHIONCLASH Festival to see the finished clothes! See you in Maastricht, June 30 - July 3.

FASHIONCLASH Side Program: Fashion Freax

The FASHIONCLASH Side Program, held during the FASHIONCLASH Festival, is supporting different platforms that fit the FASHIONCLASH concept: new spaces for young designers to showcase their work. One of those is the online sales platform, Fashion Freax that will be allocated a pop up store in the Mosae Forum during the festival. 

FASHIONCLASH Side Program: OFF STRAND

This year, the FASHIONCLASH Festival offers a long list of activities taking place in the whole city of Maastricht in its “side program.” One of those is the pop-up store OFF Strand, that will be located in the Mosae Forum from the 12th until the 15th of June.

OFF Strand is an independent initiative to create a collective pop-up showcase for young London based fashion, jewellery and accessories designers. Its aim is to offer a place in which designers, bloggers and the general public can meet and communicate. At the pop-up store in the Mosae Forum, the designers will present their current collections that will be available both for purchase and pre-order. We were lucky to get an interview with Anna Pitchouguina, one of the two founders of OFF STRAND.

Hi! Please introduce yourself. Who are you? Where do you come from? What do you do?

I am from Russia, but I grew up in Poland. Emanuele Copioli, the other person behind OFF Strand, is from Italy. We both live in London. I am a fashion designer while he is a graphic and creative mind. So, we are a great team to start up such a project. We both work on numerous projects at all times and OFF Strand is definitely one of our favorites at the moment.

&theGang: Fashion and accessory in the 90s hiphop style

Pop-Up Stores during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013

Between the 1st and the 9th of June, FASHIONCLASH Maastricht will present a variety of Pop-Up Stores during the Side Program, where you can find unique fashion, accessories and jewellery.
Pop-Up Stores are temporarily shops that offer young designers the possibility to offer their creations to an audience. Therefore, visitors should use the opportunity to experience shopping on a new level.
