The OFFER Berlin presents

For the third edition of FASHIONCLASH Maastricht, The OFFER Berlin is our special guest. We share the same goal and ideals to support young designers. Nicole Roscher and Julie Bourgeois selected the designers for this show and we are happy to have them in our program. The OFFER Berlin in in SHOW 1 on June 10th. www.fashionclash.nl
The Offer is a design collective founded in 2008. It started with private meetings between chummily designers. Besides the founder members Nicole Roscher (VON BARDONITZ),Julie Bourgeois(TATA CHRISTIANE) and the only “not designer” Andrea Cseh,  other mostly Berlin-based labels have joined it since then. The multinational label collective featuring designers from France,Germany, the Netherlands and Estonia aims at expressingtheir ideas by designing young and innovative fashion inspired by (personal) history and modern life. Another main focus is put on their joint cooperation, encompassing various areas of work. Therefore THE OFFER aims at continually realizing new ideas and projects aswell as organizing showrooms, sales and parties as a collective. http://theofferberlin.com

Picture from Matandme blog.
What is your name? Niek Pulles

What is the name of your label? HEYNIEK

Where did you study and when did you graduate? I graduated in December 2009 at Man & Identity of the Design Academy Eindhoven

What inspires you as a designer/artist? I think almost everything in life :P If ''it" or "something'' gives you the energy or the feeling to create a piece, that inspires me.

Who is your favorite (fashion) designer/artist? Why? Alexander McQueen and especially what he did around his shows. Creating new worlds, he really was a precursor. It's a shame that he died...

What can you bring to FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2011? I will join the CLASH project and the plan is to show an energetic and experimental piece based on the material of one of my graduation project, which is black foam.

What do you expect from the FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2011? I think it will be an even hotter show the last year :)

Niek's atelier
Picture from Matandme blog.

How did your experience with fashion started? When did you decide to be a (fashion) designer/artist? I was really triggered by the fastness of fashion during the Academy. In my third year I decided to jump into this fashion adventure at Man & Identity, which I still don't regret!

What are your goals concerning your career? What are your ambitions? Where do you see yourself in the future? My plan is to focus on fashion film. Using film to make trend forecasts and visualize (fashion) material experiments. And hope to work with nice people:), but that is already happening...

Part of the program:

Workshop: Fashion Mapping by Social Spaces & FASHIONCLASH

MAP-it is a mapping toolkit designed to overcome to the fact that people from different profiles, backgrounds and expertise do not necessarily share the same ‘language’. Adding a visual layer, that is open and adjustable for all participants, creates a different dialogue and enables everyone to join the conversation. Via the toolkit, a group of people visualises thoughts and ideas in a playful way. In this way cross-disciplinary creation processes are stimulated and guided. MAP-it uses an open-source set of icons indicating people, things and activities. Empty icons are also available to create new icons during discussions. In this way, icons can be added and adjusted, implying that the system is never complete and is open to iterative refinement.
The MAP-it toolkit also contains ‘strange’ or critical icons, like ‘bombs’ and ‘locks’. They allow people to disagree and enable them to risk a step on uncommon ground, which is more conductive to creativity.
During the i_beta/event 2011, research group Social Spaces will organise a mapping session to explore a possible future Euregional platform for Fashion.

Anneloes Ouwehand

What is your name? Anneloes Ouwehand

What is the name of your label? Anneloes Ouwehand

Where did you study and when did you graduate? I studied in Amsterdam Fashion Institute, and I graduated in June 2006.

What inspires you as a designer? Being able to create something from scratch: I love to watch my designs slowly come to life while I sit behind my sewing machine...

Sketches by Anneloes

Who is your favorite designer/artist? Why? Artists like Francesco Vezzoli, Ray Ceasar and Busbey Berkeley, who all include elements of alienation or ‘surrealism’ in their work.

What can you bring to FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2011? Besides my new collection, maybe some lightness - fashion saves more lives than doctors - Bruno

What do you expect from the FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2011? I took part in the first FASHIONCLASH Maastricht in 2009, which was amazing, but I'm sure that this edition will be even better... and I'm very excited to be a part of it!

How did your experience with fashion started? When did you decide to be an designer? I never really decided, it just happened.

What are your goals concerning your career? What are your ambitions? I once said I would like to 'rule over the house of Versace', that dream is still alive...

Carolina Reis

What is your name? Carolina Reis

What is the name of your label? The project that I am presenting for FASHIONCLASH is called WEAROUT. I don’t have a name for my label. I practice under my own name. I work on different collections and projects and each one lives like a brand on its own.

Where did you study and when did you graduate? I did my bachelor at Université du Québec à Montréal in Canada and I graduated in 2008. Then I studied Master in Design in the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. I graduated in 2010.

What inspires you as a designer? Primarily, the context in which the clothes will be worn. We use garments to protect ourselves, not just for social appearances. Is the environment going to be cold, warm? How will the wearer move? At last, what does it need to communicate?

I have a multidisciplinary approach to fashion design. I seek inspiration in materials and fibres, innovation, current affairs, social behavior, psychology of identity, science, geometry and ergonomics. Basically, everything that moves the world is important and is a part of the process.

Knitwear by Diana Tax

Knitted menswear by Diana Tax
What is your name? Diana Tax

What is the name of your label? I don't really have a label yet, but it will probably be something with my own name (Diana Tax) or the name of my last collection (FSHRMN)

Where did you study and when did you graduate? I've studied at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and I graduated in January 2011.

What inspires you as a designer? I'm most inspired by fabrics, and especially knits. I love what you can do with knitted fabrics. You can make a design, you can make ladders in a knit. Sometimes a use of a metallic yarn is enough to make something special. I also like weaving and the ausbrenner technique, but my main interest is knitwear. And I'm also inspired by things around me, and stories from the past. My last collection (which will be shown during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2011) was inspired by fishermen ganseys and the stories behind the ganseys.
