Dana Jasinkevica - FASHIONCLASH Festival 2018

Dana Jasinkevica, from Latvia, currently studying MA Fashion at the Swedish School of Textiles, does artistic experiments with fashion by using structures, prints, knits and image of the body. Her newest collection, 'Complete' is a meditations on the interconnectivity that accompanies technology. The key aspect of the collection is a wilful deconstruction of what clothes should look like, a play on the conventional. Ample and baggy silhouettes give a suggestion of the anonymity we try to achieve from behind a screen.

Why did you choose fashion?
It happened naturally while being into fine art field, almost since I can remember myself. I realized that for me the most natural form of expression was fashion (even if I am not a big fan of this word itself)

What would you say are your main achievements in your career?
Thinking from a holistic point of view - being able to make my ideas come to life. From most recent events I could mention Dorothy Waxman Textile Design Prize curated by Lee Edelkoort in New York where I was one of the finalists. It was important for me because some of my ideas were in a very early and unrefined stage but they were positively appreciated. Anyhow, I believe the best is yet to come.

What are your sources of inspiration?

Why did you decide to participate in FASHIONCLASH 2018? What are your expectations? Because it's a creative platform where people have good vibes and it can provide young designers new opportunities

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Since the very first edition of our festival, FASHIONCLASH had the honor to work with MAC Cosmetics. Beside their stunning work their team of stylists is a wonderful group of people who know how to combine fun and work.

For the 6th edition of our annual festival, FASHIONCLASH Festival 2014 we have chosen to work with the theme of AGE. The exhibition will be curated around this theme and we working on a inspiring project 'Old(Fashioned) with the Dutch Dance Festival.

Age is but a number, and as if more proof were needed Iris Apfel – New York socialite and style icon - hit the big 90 last year and the world took note. Call for Fashion Films for Fashion Film Night Out during FASHIONCLASH festival 2014

Are you a filmmaker or have you recently made a fashion film? We are happy to present you an opportunity to show your work for an international audience.

FASHIONCLASH Festival launches a Fashion Film Night Out on 12 June 2014. This year we have made some exciting additions to the FASHIONCLASH Festival, including the Fashion Film Night Out, which is a part of the FASHIONCLASH Side Program. Fashion Film Night Out will screen a selection of fashion films from the Berlin Fashion Film Festival 2013 program. The event will take place at the Lumière Cinema Maastricht.
We would like to offer you the possibility to screen your fashion film at the Fashion Film Night Out.

The call for fashion films is now open. In the context of the FASHIONCLASH Exhibition, films around the concept of age are welcomed. Nevertheless, all films regardless of their theme are suitable for submission.

BERLIN fashion FILM FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS FOR 2014 is OPEN
The Berlin fashion Film Festival has started accepting submissions for its third edition. The event will take place in July 2014 in Berlin, during Berlin Fashion Week, and it will consist of three public screenings on July 8 and 9, the Berlin fashion Film Festival Award Ceremony on July 10, and the Berlin fashion Film Festival Party on July 11.
Fashion designers, filmmakers, photographers, production companies and advertising agencies are invited to submit their fashion films directly on the Berlin fashion Film Festival website. The submissions deadline is April 30, 2014. All films will be reviewed and considered for the official 2014 selection, which will be finalised by May 31, 2014.
The selected films will be judged by an international jury including Not Just a Label’s founder Stefan Siegel, Vimeo’s lead curator Jordan McGarry, fashion designer Charlie le Mindu, Serviceplan’s executive creative director worldwide Maik Kähler, Esmod Munich designer and art director Ingo Brack, and Berlin-based stylist Jan Luckenbill. http://berlinfashionfilmfestival.net/submission/

FASHIONCLASH Festival is an inspiring fashion festival based in Maastricht, the Netherlands. FASHIONCLASH Festival shows the art of fashion in the broadest sense of the word. FASHIONCLASH Festival is a platform where young and upcoming designers and artists from various disciplines get the opportunity to present their work to a broad and various audience, national and international press, industry leaders, etc.
Since the 1st edition in 2009 more than 700 talents from more than 30 countries have joined the festival and were given the opportunity to show their talent and work. Some of their careers really took of from there!
