FASHIONCLASH STREETHEARTS

During this three-day fashion event, the runway photography team of Peter Stigter in collaboration with Maasmechelen Village will be awarding the FASHIONCLASH STREETHEARTS award.
Recording street fashion at fashion events is becoming increasingly popular.
Under the heading “FASHIONCLASH STREETHEARTS by Team Peter Stigter & Maasmechelen Village”, visitors to FASHIONCLASH MAASTRICHT will be photographed in and around the Timmerfabriek from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 June inclusive. The photos will be exhibited in the Timmerfabriek during the event and on the FASHIONCLASH website.
At the end of each day, a jury will select the best street fashion outfit and announce the nominee. An overall winner will be chosen on Sunday evening during the closing event of FASHIONCLASH MAASTRICHT 2010. The FASHIONCLASH STREETHEARTS award winner will receive an enlarged copy of his/her photo and a Maasmechelen Village Gift Card worth €500.

ETALAGEROUTE + FASHION WALK • 29 May to 6 June: Etalage Route through Maastricht

In collaboration with VVV Maastricht and Centrummanagement FASHIONCLASH has composed a Etalageroute. The windows of a dozen of shops will be decorated with creations (prototypes) from students of the fashion and textile department of Academy of Arts in Maastricht and few designers/artists such as Aniek Dokter, Linda Maissan and Valentina Vos.

The archive of international catwalk photographer Peter Stigter counts thousands of unpublished fashion features. His favourites are for sale in limited editions. A selection of these amazing features is shown in ‘de Timmerfabriek’ (4 to 6 June) and another part of these is displayed in the Window Route (29 May to 6 June). The revenues will be donated to the blind & visually handicapped in the Netherlands.

On 29 May the Etalage Route will open with a FASHION WALK; fashion presentations on different locations in Maastricht.

The Sartorialist at Maasmechelen Village

Maasmechelen Village, one of FASHIONCLASH partners, is having visit from The Sartorialist (Scott Schuman)

Maasmechelen Village – Chic Outlet Shopping ® presents the Chic Tour of Europe featuring The Sartorialist. Scott Schuman, famous for his world-renown blog about Style “The Sartorialist”, will arrive on Monday May 17th to Belgium and will stop in… Maasmechelen Village.
Monday May 17th, Maasmechelen Village will host a round table about Style in honor of Scott Schuman. An exposition of his work will be shown in the Sartorialist lounge of Maasmechelen Village.
Afterwards (16.30h) he will participate to a book signing session for the general public. Everything will take place in The Sartorialist lounge of Maasmechelen Village.

Scott Schuman was born in Indiana, USA and went to college at Indiana University majoring in Apparel Merchandising, with a minor in Costume
Construction. After 15 years dedicated to his career in Fashion, working for high-end women’s designer collections like Valentino, Scott Schuman opened his own showroom specializing in young designer collections. He then went on to roam the streets of New York with his camera and started shooting pictures for his blog.

“My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration. Rarely do they look at the whole outfit as a yes or no but they try and look for the abstract concepts of color, proportion, pattern mixing or mixed genres”. (The Sartorialist- blog)

Monday May 17th, Scott Schuman will visit the temporary exhibit of his own work in Maasmechelen Village. As of 4.30 pm the general public might get a ‘glimpse’ of the man during the public book signing session. His book “The Sartorialist” will be available for purchase at the Welcome/ Information centre in Maasmechelen Village, starting May 14th, for the special price of 20 euros.

The exposition ‘The Sartorialist’ will be open from May 14th to May 17th in Maasmechelen Village.
