Curator Lidewij Edelkoort has selected the theme of Fetishism in Fashion for the fifth edition of the M°BA. FASHIONCLASH team went to Arnhem to visit this big event. We were in particular proud to see work of several FASHIONCLASH Maastricht designers.

Meet the nominees for Shoe Design Challenge

After weeks of collecting submissions we have now chosen our 11 talented designers for the 'FASHIONCLASH Shoe Design Challenge Powered bu Invito.

We are very exvcited to announce our nominated designers are: Malou Fool, Marleen Huijsmans, Lotte van de Laar, Julia Skergeth, Judith van Vliet, Wendy van den Ham, Chris van den Elzen, Sarah El Mahi, Milou van den Berg, Monique Schraven and Milou Hillegers .

The nominees will now develop their shoe ideas further in the coming months. In this process they will be coached by a professional team consisting of Nienke Rutting (Brandmanager Invito),  Fer van der Pas (marketing director and E-commerce Macintosh) and Ingrid Weijer Manager Corporate Responsibility & Innovation of Macintosh).
As of September 14, the designs can be seen at the Museum aan het Vrijthof during two weeks. During the finale in October, the final three winners will be announced by the judges (FASHIONCLASH team, Bas Kosters and Jasper Den Hartog) and one or more winning designs will be taken into production.

Selection time for Shoe Design Challenge

Today was the selection time for the 'FASHIONCLASH Shoe Design Challenge powered by Invito'. We sat with Invito and Museum aan het Vrijthof team and went through all the proposals. At last 11 promising and very diverse projects are selected and will be announced this week.

FASHIONCLASH at Berlin Fashion Week

FASHIONCLASH is recovering from the 2013 edition of FASHIONCLASH Maastricht and at the same time already making plans for 2014. In the meantime we visit events to scout talents and to encourage our dear designers and partners. We went to Berlin to attend the promising Berlin Fashion Film Festival that has celebrated its second edition. Our fashion film ASPIRE that we  have created for the 2013 edition in collaboration with Strictua was in the official festival screening. Beside that it was a great event and a wonderful Award Show evening.
At the same time Berlin Fashion Week was happening and we had attended some shows such as the Satu Maaranen (Hyeres 2013 winner) show and side events like the Premium fair.
One of the FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013 participants Franziska Michael showed her new ss2014 collection and she was also winner of Premium Young Designer Award 2013 for womenswear. We also met Black Balloon and spotted talents like label IVANMAN and Byungmun Seo.
Furthermore Blaenk label gave a very beautiful presentation at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Berlin.
At last we had the Weissensee Academy Berlin graduation fashin show where we spotted loads of talent. Check out some of the highlights.

FASHIONCLASH in Mauritius

FASHIONCLASH at Dutch Week Mauritius
15 - 20 June 2013 in Mauritius

FASHIONCLASH attended Dutch Week in Mauritius last week! FASHIONCLASH has travelled before but never so far away and to such exotic destination as Mauritius.
The three Dutch Tall Ships ‘Tecla’, bark ‘Europa’ and ‘Oosterschelde’ are sailing around the world, wandering the oceans and following the old trade routes of historic times. From 15 – 19 June the ships where berthed near Le Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis in Mauritius. In connection to the historic visit of the Dutch Tall Ships in Mauritius, a Dutch Week was organized.
FASHIONCLASH has been invited to present one Dutch designer, two models and to invite several journalists. We have selected Dutch designer Tessa Wagenvoort to present her collection in the program of the Fashion & Design Institute fashion event that took place on June 17th. Accompanying Tessa Wagenvoort we have invited two Dutch models Lotte Berkelaar and Danila Pietersz.
Beside the fashion show we have initiated a fashion shoot with the photographer Lonneke van der Palen. For this shoot we have used clothing of Tessa Wagenvoort and from students of the FDI Mauritius. The shoot took place in the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort where we where guests the entire week. This is the most wonderful resort with the kindest team.
Beside the fashion event and the shoot we had the honor to welcome the Dutch Tall Ships and to wave goodbye and fruthermore MTPA has composed a full program for us with various activities and visits around some of the islands highlights.
Looking back to last week it was an unforgettable week and encounter with lovely people we have met in Mauritius. We are now brainstorming about possible collaboration with the Fashion & Design Institute. We hope to go back to this small but magical part of the earth.

FASHIONCLASH for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited Maastricht. FASHIONCLASH was invited and we showcased some fashion talents.
Participating designers: Romy van Eijk, Linda Friesen, Atelier Milada, Nawie Kuiper, Saba Tark, STRIKKS and Branko Popovic.

BERLIN fashion FILM FESTIVAL 2013 Program released

This year’s programme and locations for the Berlin fashion Film Festival have officially been released. The event spans between July 2nd and July 4th 2013, and it includes three public screenings, one award show, and one closing party, featuring names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, H&M and Lana del Rey. An international guestlist formed by renowned professionals and trendsetters of the fashion, film and music industries makes it one of the most important events of Berlin Fashion Week SS14, including names such as Sara Maino, DJ Hell and Boris Entrup. The public screenings are divided between the Opening Screening, the first and most comprehensive screening of the season featuring names such as Cara Delevigne for MCS London and Wes Anderson for Prada on July 2nd between 5pm and 6pm, Young Guns, showcasing the best emerging fashion and film talent of the moment on July 3rd between 3.30pm and 4.30 pm, and Meet the Locals, a specially tailored programme focused on Berlin featuring the likes of Esther Perbandt, Moga e Mago, and Mads Dinesen on July 3rd between 5pm and 6pm. All public screenings take place at Kino Arsenal 1 on Potsdamer Straße 2, 10785 Berlin, and tickets can be purchased online until sold out by visiting the Berlin fashion Film Festival programme page.

The Award Show takes place on July 4th at ARENA GLASHAUS, Eichenstrasse 4, 12435 Berlin. Doors open at 6pm, with the evening including the screening of nominated films, the award show, and an exclusive is accessible via accreditation only and focused on professionals of the fashion, film and music industries. Accreditation can be requested via the Berlin fashion Film Festival programme page until June 30th, 2013.

The Berlin fashion Film Festival Closing Party starts at 8pm on July 4th in ARENA BADESCHIFF, Eichenstrasse 4, 12435 Berlin, with a view of Charlie Le Mindu’s fashion presentation, to then continue in ARENACLUB from 11pm.
