Today we have the pleasure to introduce you to Eunmi Kwon, a designer from South Korea. Her collection will be presented during the Fashion Shows.
Hello! Where do you come from?
I am
from the Republic of Korea.
What is your field of specialisation?
Fashion
Art.
Where are you based?
I'm based in London. That's where I worked the most so far.
What inspires you in general?
Various
art exhibitions.
What place or city do you find inspiring?
What is found behind cities.
What is it like to be a young designer in
your city/country?
Korean fashion has been doing good with business. The social environment has been getting more supportive and better, but is still relatively poor for fashion artists.
Concept taking fashion & art together and my personal
fancy for Dutch art & design.
What is the concept behind your latest collection?
Illusion,
inspired by Anthony Mccall’s Light installation, causing a movement of
perception.
Describe you collection/creation in three
words.
Conceptual, eclectic, and androgynous.
Did you always want to work in the field of
fashion?
Yes.
Can you remember the first piece you
designed?
No way. I couldn’t define what was a designed piece because I made a lot of trivial design pieces.
Do you have a muse? If yes, who is it and
why?
Lots of fine arts and choreographers,
especially Dutch, Belgian and German ones.
What kind of feeling do you want to
transfer with your latest collection/creation?
Fun &
avant-garde.
What is on your playlist when you are working?
Electronic
and alternative rock.
What book shaped you?
"The Ants" by Bernard Werber.
Who is your favourite fashion designer?
I love
many, but especially Maison Martin Margiela and Issey Miyake because both do
more than fashion.
What is the latest thing you bought for
yourself?
A travel ticket.
What is your favourite fairy tale and why?
Pippi
Longstocking because I like her big mouth.
If your life were a song what would the
title be?
OMG.
What made you smile today?
Pippi’s
smile on Youtube.
Twitter or Instagram?
I
am into both: @eerieemmi
What is your definition of style?
One’s
way of thinking or communicating.
What has been the greatest experience in
your "fashion" career so far?
Having many interviews with labels of famous
designers, although most of them failed.
What can we expect from you in the future?
