Marko Marosiuk - fashion & costume designer from Serbia
Please introduce yourself to our readers. (Who are you, where do you come from and what is your field of specialization?)
My name is Marko Marosiuk, and I come from Serbia. I graduated from the Academy of Fine Art, and I am a fashion and a costume designer.
What inspires you in general?
Love stories inspire me mostly, I just need to have a story in my mind and then I make up characters. Also I am very inspired by historical costumes, Renaissance, Baroque, etc. I must not forget my divas - my favorite singers and actresses; they entertain me and inspire me, make me cry, laugh. I identify with them and love them; just feel like they make a huge part in my creative process and everyday life.

Dioralop - Fashion Film presents latest collection
Dioralop is a label by two female designers from Croatia. Hailing from the island of Pag, Croatia, Andreja Bistričić is a 31-year-old fashion designer with a graduate diploma in fashion from Central Saint Martins in London. Maja Merlić is a 22-year-old student in architecture at the Faculty of Architecture & Urbanism in Zagreb
The two of them are best friends and founded Dioralop together. The collections are inspired by Polaroid pictures which were created by intentional spills of chemicals and by exposing them to different temperatures. This way the pictures get different colors. Dioralop is the quirky palindrome of Polaroid, meaning it's simply spelled backwards.

As both designers are inspired by God, the concept of their latest collection is also influenced by biblical topics. The name of the recent Dioralop collection is 4. The number 4 represents everything that is created, it is a beginning of everything material and the end of God’s creative cycle, as the designers explain. On the 4th day God separated light from darkness by creating two lights - one to rule the day and the other to enlighten the night. Because of that, Dioralop created four prints: Two of them represent the darkness and the other two lightness.

Shoe design by Ellen Sampson from London
Please introduce yourself:
My name is Ellen Sampson and I am a shoe designer, curator and artist living and working in London. I work on the boundaries between fashion and fine art, attempting to explore the relationship between clothing and lived experience. I am also undertaking a PhD in Footwear at Royal College of Art.
What inspires you in general?
I take most of my inspiration from sculpture and architecture and furniture design. I am particularly inspired by the work of artists and designers from the early and mid 20th Century. I have a particular interest in sculptors such as Barbara Hepworth and Brancusi whose simple abstracted forms and clean lines really appeal to me. I also really like the mark making and painterly qualities of the St Ives group artists such as Ben Nicholson. When developing a collection I often refer to furniture and interior design from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I particularly like the work of Jean Prouve for its honest use of materials and simple functional forms.

IKKAI by Gerda Postma - The aura of fashion
The name IKKAI, which is partly used as a pseudonym, emerged from a fascination with old family traditions and gender issues. It is a combination of the characters Gerda and Kai, also occurring in a story by H.C. Anderson, and used as a tradition to replace the name Gerda for Kai. The work ´IK´ means ´I´ in Dutch, the name KAI represents the male side of the twofold personage. IKKAI turned into an alter ego of neutral gender.

Lonneke van der Palen - photographer of this year's FASHIONCLASH campaign
Please introduce yourself:
My name is Lonneke van der Palen, I live in The Hague and I make photos.
What inspires you in general?
There are so many different things within this world that arouse surprise and spark my interests and inspiration, but I do take the time to actively search for them. My search for inspiration takes me outside and into the world. I can’t stay at home hoping that ideas just start flowing. During everyday life I keep my eyes open and if I register something, I lock it away in my memory bank, knowing it might one day lead to something interesting. Those things can differ from street name signs, to an old disco ball that’s broken and bend because it fell down, to a quiz on TV, as well as the menu at a restaurant, weird objects I come across in second hand stores, the way my cat shred the toilet paper to pieces or even just a plastic bag floating down the street.

Please introduce yourself to our readers. (Who are you, where do you come from and what is your field of specialization?)
I am Marije Hellwich, I am from The Netherlands and I am mostly interested in doing conceptual research.
What inspires you in general?
I always start my projects with searching lots of images through search engines. After a while I realize what the concept is about. In general I am inspired by what real people wear in real situations. How clothes shape our identities and how we give identity to our clothes.
Where are you based?
My studio is based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
What place/city do you find inspiring?
I am very much inspired by Senegal. How Senegalese people find their inventive ways to repair and recycle things. Also I find their differing views on dress codes interesting, and their special ways of dressing up, the beautiful prints, and how they differ from us in their views on appearance.

Joshua Enker Presents New Collection
Please introduce yourself to our readers. (Who are you, where do you come from and what is your field of specialization?)
My name is Joshua Enker, I am a fashion designer from Amsterdam. I design for both men and women and I tend to start from material development.
What inspires you in general?
Fashion, art, history, crafts...the idea of transformation and how one is perceived.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Amsterdam, for now.
What is it like to be a young designer in your city/country?
There’s a whole web of institutions, subsidies, etc. that seem to support fashion, however it’s quite daunting to find your way through it though. Selling and actually producing your work is a big challenge, as there is hardly a market for home-grown design. The Dutch will spend on their homes but not on clothing and accessories.

Aimee Matthew-John: Integrating female and male attributes into fashion
Please
introduce yourself:
Aimee
Matthew-John, from Milton Keynes, specialising in Womenswear.
One
of the most interesting things for me is talking to people with
stories to tell. I love to listen to tales of travels and experiences
and to see the ways in which these things have informed a person’s
style or outlook.
I’m
fascinated by the idea of clothing as disguise- becoming
something/someone else by stepping into a garment or outfit, choosing
a character to wear each day.
And
clothing that builds history, memories, meaning over time.
Fashion
aside; artisan bakers.
Where
are you based?
In
London
What
is it like to be a young designer in your city/country?
Perhaps
the best thing is having so many people around to work with, go over
ideas with, be motivated by... There are many
creatives and opportunities to collaborate as well as resources and
inspiration. Most encouragingly, people are excited by design and
want to see what you have to offer.
In
professional terms, again, there are plenty of places to start
however it is demanding and difficult to sustain yourself. It can be
hard to sustain a business in fashion for several reasons- keeping up
with the rate of consumption and expectation, competition with larger
players on the highstreet who are able to produce 'cheaper'/ faster
clothing, as well as contending with the widespread perception of
‘value’. I think that designers have to try to spread an
appreciation for skilled work and clothing that will last beyond
trends.

Multidisciplinary Exhibition Presented by Lisa Maria Rutten
Please introduce yourself to our readers. (Who are you, where do you come from and what is your field of specialization?)
I’m Lisa Maria Rutten, I work under the name: Maria-Lies, I graduated as an illustrator, but photography and fashion are a big influence in my work. My work is mainly about creating a certain atmosphere, which mostly ends up as a surreal situation. I prefer to put things in another perspective, playing with the function and use of objects is distinctive for my work. By illustrating with objects, I try to create a set-design that makes people question. Photography is the main key in all of this, however I often combine more mixed media techniques, since I haven’t lost my love for working with real materials. My style consists of creating an illusion, with a dark sense of humor and an overload of imagination.

Meet Georgina Santiago from Spain
My name is Georgina Santiago, I am from Igualada, a town near Barcelona, Spain, and I graduated in June 2012 at ESDI, Barcelona. Nowadays, I create synergies between fashion and art with a constant obsession for color.
What inspires you in general?
Colors are my main inspiration. I found out that color can tell more than a word.
Where are you based?
I am based in my hometown, Igualada.
What is it like to be a young designer in your city/country?
I used to go to Barcelona several times a week, to look for materials and inspiration. My town is just too small, but being a designer near Barcelona is grateful. There is a good cultural scene, music, galleries, restaurants, bookshops...but there is also a lack of other things that cities like Berlin or Amsterdam have.

MCFOOL by Malou Fool
Please introduce yourself:
I'm Malou Fool. I am 22 years old and I live in Voorburg. Two years ago I graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Currently I'm busy with setting up my own men’s label. Beside designing and making clothes I also make leather bags for men.
What inspires you in general?
For my collections I get inspired by collected objects that give me a certain feeling. With that feeling I can make sketches for a new collection. Beside that, I can also get inspiration from people on the street. My interest goes out to people who combine clothes with each other.
Where are you based?
My studio is based in The Hague next to the highway at the exit Voorburg.
What is it like to be a young designer in your city/country?
As a young designer it is really hard to start your own label. There are chances but it is difficult.

Textile designer Jolijn Pasmans
Please introduce
yourself to our readers. (Who are you, where do you come from and what is your
field of specialization?)
Jolijn Pasmans: a
materialist, texturist and inspirator.
Being a designer,
I create materials and forms to inspire other designers and producers within
the field of fashion and interior. Tactility, texture and atmosphere are very
important in my designs.
During my study at the Design Academy in Eindhoven I
fell in love with textile and textile techniques, which are now part of my main
skills. Other materials like plastics and concrete are also within my
expertise.
My way of working is very impulsive and experimental.
I always have to create a mess in order to design, after this messy stage the
analytical stage starts. I think this process comes from my youth, in which
everything was allowed. In school I have always tried to stay true to this way
of designing, and I still do.
