‘ES TUT MIR LEID!, Studio M.E.N. , Annie van Noortwijk, 00:01:55, premiere.

‘Es tut mir leid’ features the debut collection of the new designer Studio MEN. The designers drew inspiration from rugby and played with gender. The models in the film are alienating, and at different locations they try to make contact with the audience. Body language, intense gazes and a dynamic edit and music score, take you to the desolate green fields where the collection of MEN sets foot on earth for the first time.

A video portrait of two people in different tableaux vivants, raising feelings of stilled alienation. They seek communication, a conversation. At times share one world, but a conversation seems too complex, they stay ” together alone ”. Solo, SOLUM.

Debora Dax - 6 OBJECTS - Projecting Identity Expressions

FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival presents short documentary '6 OBJECTS - Projecting Identity Expressions' by Debora Dax.

The artistic documentary (10min) gives the audience insight into the experiences, wishes and needs of people who consciously express their identity and enables questions about how we experience, judge or define identity.

Six people with various backgrounds talk about their identity using the most meaningful object for their transformation and/or gender expression. The characters do not come into view, but express their identity through this object by means of another's body. The artistic documentary offers the audience a different perspective on identity.

A concept developed and directed by Debora Dax.

Canon Workshop - Filmen met een spiegelreflexcamera 

Het is nog niet zo lang geleden dat er alleen gefilmd werd met film- en videocamera’s. Met de komst van de Canon EOS 5D Mark II in 2008 veranderde dat. Met deze camera konden hoge kwaliteit films gemaakt worden.
Spiegelreflexcamera’s zoals de Canon EOS 5D serie (meest recente model is de EOS 5D Mark IV) hebben voor film de belangrijke eigenschap dat ze lichtgevoelig zijn.

Daarnaast beschikken deze camera’s over een grote sensor waardoor met kleine scherptediepte gewerkt kan worden (belangrijk voor focus pulls). Een ander groot voordeel van het filmen met een spiegelreflexcamera betreft het grote assortiment foto-objectieven waaruit gekozen kan worden, waaronder speciale macro- en tilt-shift objectieven.

Het filmen met een spiegelreflexcamera kent echter wel enkele kleine uitdagingen zoals:
- Audio: welke microfoon kun je het beste gebruiken en hoe leg je audio vast;
- Scherpstelling: hoe zie ik wat ik doe en wat kan ik aan de camera overlaten;
- Rigging: statief, rig of gewoon uit de hand filmen;
- Objectieven: welk objectief gebruik je voor wat;
- Intern/extern opnemen, opslagmedia en codecs.



Canon zal tijdens de speciale workshop nader op bovenstaande zaken ingaan. In het praktijkgedeelte zullen twee verschillende situaties gecreëerd worden zodat de deelnemers ook zelf aan de slag kunnen met hun eigen (EOS) camera. En heb je bovenstaande zaken eenmaal onder de knie, dan gaat er een filmwereld voor je open.

De Workshop ‘Filmen met een spiegelreflexcamera’ wordt gegeven door Jip Barth, Product Intelligence Consultant bij Canon. Jip geeft vanaf 2008 aan uiteenlopend publiek uitleg over de techniek van het filmen met EOS-camera’s.

Canon Workshop vindt plaats 4 november van 10:30 - 13:30 bij Lumière Cinema Maastricht.
Deelname is gratis maar er is beperkt plek. Stuur bij een aanmelding een korte motivatie en C.V. Daarbij is het aan te raden om je eigen EOS camera mee te nemen.

Sangue Novo - MODALISBOA LUZ - SS 2018

Sangue Novo (New Blood) is a platform for young Portuguese designers who get the opportunity to show their work within a collective fashion show. Nine Portuguese designers where selected to show their collections. At the end of the show several awards are presented. Winner of Sangue Novo ModaLisboa LUZ edition is Filipe Augusto. His prize is participation at Fashion My Religion! The 10th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival (June 15 -17).
Federico Cina, winner of FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017 Talent Award has been selected to take part at Sangue Novo show.

This was a very strong edition of Sangue Novo with talents such as Rita Afonso who took part at FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017 and promising new discoveries such as Carla Campos and David Pereira.

Kill Your Darlings - Maarten van Mulken
During FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017 Pascal presented the RADIKAL FASHION FILM AWARD. The winner of this award, designer Maarten van Mulken made a fashion film with Pascal. 'Kill Your Darlings' will premiere during FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival.

Fashion Makes Sense Award 2017

MUKASHI MUKASHI

FASHIONCLASH presents, in collaboration with Province Limburg, the ‘Fashion Makes Sense Award’, a stimulation award for conscious young designers. The Fashion Makes Sense award is awarded during the Dutch Earth Week (October 2017) in Maastricht. Out of the finalists, a jury chose one winner that’ll be rewarded with a money prize of €2.500. This prize will be used to produce a sustainable collection, which will be presented during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2018. In addition, an audience winner was chosen, this winner will receive a cash prize of €500.

MUKASHI MUKASHI by Birutė Mažeikaitė won the Fashion Makes Sense Award jury prize. The audience award went to Maastricht based knitwear label STRIKKS.

The jury, consisting of Carry Somers (founder Fashion Revolution), Desiree Kleinen (Ree projects) Jasmien Wynants (Flanders DC/Close the loop) and fashion designer Elsien Gringhuis, was unanimous about the sustainable fashion brand MUKASHI MUKASHI.

The awards have been presented on October 12 by Daan Prevoo, deputy of the Province of Limburg. Fashion Makes Sense Award is presented during Dutch Earth Week that took place from 10 -14 October 2017 for the first time.

In addition, Forza Fashion House organized a Sustainable Fashion Falk during the award ceremony. The talk, moderated by Elise Crutzen (fashion editor and writer) featured presentations by Jasmien Wynants and Carry Somers.

Fashion Makes Sense Award is a project by FASHIONCLASH, made possible thanks to support of Province of Limburg. The 9th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival was dedicated to the theme ‘Fashion Makes Sense’, in which the focus was on the senses and the sense making in relation to fashion. The theme shed light on sustainability in fashion, by giving a stage to initiatives and designers and creating a dialogue between the audience and the fashion industry.

 With ‘Fashion Makes Sense’ FASHIONCLASH wants to excite young designers, the fashion industry and the audience and create awareness about sustainability in fashion. Fashion is of upmost importance in the economy, society, art, and creativity and for each of us. But, it has a downside: the impact on the environment, the exploitation on workers and the influence on our self-esteem. What is the importance of fashion in our society and how can fashion contribute to a better world and welfare.

FASHIONCLASH has the ambition to develop ‘Fashion Makes Sense to a returning part of the yearly FASHIONCLASH Festival and it is their aim to create awareness around this topic. With an annual prize, FASHIONCLASH introduced the ‘Fashion Makes Sense’ jury award and the ‘Fashion Makes Sense audience award. A prize for a promising fashion talent, that’ll have a relevant and innovative idea on the awareness and innovation around sustainability.
